Hair Color and More at Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis

Hair Color and More at Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis

I really wanted to go to a posh salon in Davao City and avail of their services, but hesitations sometimes struck me because one, I do not know the hairstylists and I have trust issues. Two, I have doubts on the products because it might be fake, harmful or too strong, and three, the most important, is the price. Since I am just living in Tagum City, prices are quiet low and I am used to that. So when I plan to have my hair done in Davao City, my basic questions are: Is it affordable? Is it too expensive? Is it value for my money’s worth?

Good thing was that the Davao Bloggers Society members were invited to attend a meet and greet event at Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis, with Jing Monis himself! Of course, we were able to avail services of our choice and we were also given freebies to maintain our hair condition. The products were from Osis and Wella.

I availed the hair cut, full highlights, full hair color and hair treatment during my schedule. Mr. Mario, the senior stylist, was very accommodating and gave advise on what is the best for my hair. Together with Mr. Eric, his junior stylist, they did an amazing job on my hair. The color was toned down and the highlights gave some oomph on my boring and untamed hair.

Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis is a great salon. With my experience, the hair stylists were really good, the products are of the best quality and the price…the price is reasonable.

With my medium-length hair, the prices were: haircut in round layer style – 450 pesos, full highlights in special blonde ash – 2,200 pesos, full hair color in medium blonde cendre copper – 2,400 pesos, and macadamia treatment – 1,500 pesos. Total is 6,550 pesos. Yes, it is expensive but you will not regret it. The products and services were all worth it.

I am very satisfied and will visit Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis again in 2 to 3 months for my maintenance and trim. If you want to visit it too, they are located at the 2nd Floor, Abreeza Corporate Center, every day during mall hours.

Date With The Elderly

Date With The Elderly

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (CBTL) Philippines had another activity last February in the 3 key cities of the country – Manila, Cebu and Davao, called Valentines Date with the Elderly. Although the activity was already done in Manila and Cebu earlier in February, Davao’s schedule was last February 27. Kinda late for Valentine’s Day but it was fun, exciting and emotional.

image

I got invited because I followed the instructions on how to be invited. Hahahaha. Actually, I follow CBTL’s Facebook and Instagram pages so I am always updated with what’s new. So I read their post, did the instructions and tried my luck (with prayers, too) because only 25 slots were given. Although the venue is unknown to me and I know no one there, still I was eager to join.

Then I was chosen. Came February 27, I explored alone again to the other side of Davao City, somewhere in Calinan, to a Barangay called Biao Guianga, Tugbok. I miscalculated the expected time of departure and arrival so I was 1 hour late. I nearly got lost, and got so confused. Good thing I got with me my data connection, power bank, coins, small bills, umbrella and advise of friends so I was able to ride the right jeepney, got off the right spot and eventually arrived at the venue, The Care for the Elderly Foundation, Inc.

Though late, I was just in time for the major activities like paper flower making, serenade, dancing, speech and group photos. It was fun.

During the activity, when I look at the elderlies, I felt a little emotional but happy for them. Emotional because some of them cannot walk already and in wheelchairs, some cannot move by themselves and rely to other people to transport them from one place to another, some cannot eat by themselves, some are already senile due to cardiac attack or stroke.

At the same time, I am happy for them because they have reached that far, very far that some of them are nearly 100 years old! I am happy for them because even in that situation, there are still people who care for them – the people who run the center and those who keep on donating for the daily expenses.

image

After the activity, I am sure that all of them were entertained. If only I could go there more often, I would, because those elderlies need love and attention especially that their days are counted.

image

Kudos to CBTL for a very meaningful activity. We ended the activity with a group photo and snacks from CBTL.

Thank you so much CBTL. Hoping to join more exciting activities soon.

Dagan Para Sa Gugma

Dagan Para Sa Gugma

I always make sure that we celebrate Valentine’s Day in an unforgettable and unique way. So when we knew about this pre-Valentine fun run of Big 8 Corporate Hotel, we signed up. Actually, we ran out of couples shirt so we got the shirt for singles, but our category was still couples.

image

The program proper started late because of the rain, but it did not stop us from reaching our goal – finish the race and have fun! Licensed Zumba instructors initiated the stretching and warm up exercises so that we will be conditioned during the run.

Me and Jules ran for four kilometers together and surprisingly, we were the first couple to reach the finish line. We were so happy with this accomplishment. We won some gift certificates and pool passes during the raffle.

image

image

Together with the other couples, we were tasked to declare our promise of love to one another infront of other participants. It is such a nice feeling to tell the whole world how much you love a person. We were also given a lock to be placed in their Love Lock area.

The race began and ended with a color blast.

For Help and Health: The Million Volunteer Run 3

For Help and Health: The Million Volunteer Run 3

I have joined another fun run/run for a cause today. Actually, this should be done last December 13, 2015 but was postponed to February 6, 2016. I have never joined the Million Volunteer Run 1 and 2 before because I was not informed or maybe I was just not interested at that time.

But by the time I knew about Million Volunteer Run 3, I immediately registered, paid and got excited. Of course, this is not just a fun activity but a humanitarian one.

The Million Volunteer Run is a humanitarian run organized by the Philippine Red Cross and the proceeds of the Million Volunteer Run 3 will capacitate communities to be more prepared and resilient against the intensified and much frequent buffet of disasters that hit our country, and to raise funds to purchase lifesaving vehicles and equipment. For me, joining this kind of activity is good because I can help in their fundraising even if it is just a small amount, and running is good for the body. It is for help and health. It is like hitting two birds with one stone! The run was simultaneous on all Red Cross Chapters all over the country.

I was in the 5K Female Category and I was so surprised and amazed that I finished 5th place, because my pace was so slow. Although it was a good news for me, too bad they only gave medals up to the 4th place.

Joining the MVR3 is such an accomplishment for me. I am looking forward for the MVR4 and other activities of the Philippine Red Cross.

Zumba With A Twist

Zumba With A Twist

December 1, 2015 was a special day for Big 8 Corporate Hotel because it was the lighting of their Christmas Tree. Their tree is the highest in Visayas and Mindanao in a hotel-set up. There were also Christmas decorations all around the hotel.

20151201_20351620151201_203455

To make the event more meaningful, they conducted a Fitness Color Blast Zumba wherein powders of different colors were thrown at us while dancing, making different color combinations on our white dri-fit shirts.  The Big 8 Hotel staff randomly throw it at us, in front and at the back of our shirts. No worries because the colored powders were nontoxic and easy to wash.

We really had fun and it was my first time to join this kind of Zumba. I called it Zumba with a twist. The instructors were also very good as they can really make you move and dance. Their choice of music were also good.

I am into Zumba about three years now and I really like it because you are just dancing and it is already your workout! Hundreds of calories are already burned.

I hope to join more Zumba parties and extraordinary Zumba parties such as this.

Giant Holiday Tree 2015

Giant Holiday Tree 2015

Last night was the ceremonial lighting of the Tagum City’s Giant Holiday Tree for 2015. This is one of the much-awaited event for all Tagumenos during holiday season. Every before the parochial fiesta (which falls every third Sunday of November), happens this spectacular event which is the lighting of the holiday tree at the Freedom Park. Almost all people are waiting for the big day and when it finally came, they were there in awe of the beautiful design and lights of the giant holiday tree.

Well, the holiday tree was not just designed to look pleasing to the eyes. Every design has meaning.

What does the tree symbolize? The 6 levels represent the 6  city councils of Tagum, 16 ring stars symbolize the 16 distinct qualities of love stated in Corinthians 13:4-8. The giant ring and rope represent unity among Tagumenyos, Filipinos and the entire mankind. The flowers are symbol of peace; Christmas lights for the camaraderie between and among Tagumenyos and others (From Choose Philippines).

A variety show was presented from talents all over Tagum. The spirit of Christmas was really all over the place because of the Christmas songs heard from solo, duet, chorale and dance numbers from the participants.

The highlight of the event was the 10-minute fireworks display that really opened the Christmas season in Tagum City.

It was indeed another memorable and historical event.
