Mystery Shopper

I signed up in Helion to become a mystery shopper. Actually, I just signed up because as I browsed the available assignments or jobs, Davao City was included in the areas for evaluation. I signed up several months ago but last Wednesday, I received an email that Marks & Spencer in SM Lanang and Abreeza Mall needs to be evaluated and I am one of the chosen applicants to do it. Of course, I agreed right away. I was so excited and nervous. It will be my first time to do this kind of job, even though I heard about it for many times already.

What is mystery shopping? Mystery shopping or a mystery consumer is a tool used externally by market research companies, watchdog organizations, or internally by companies themselves to measure quality of service, or compliance with regulation, or to gather specific information about products and services. The mystery consumer’s specific identity and purpose is generally not known by the establishment being evaluated. Mystery shoppers perform specific tasks such as purchasing a product, asking questions, registering complaints or behaving in a certain way, and then provide detailed reports or feedback about their experiences. So came the day. I brought Jillian along with me so that I can have an accomplice. We went first to SM Lanang and did my task. I checked and evaluated the things that need to be checked and evaluated. I bought hand wipes and peppermint spray for the non-food and chocolate bar and jelly beans for the food. In Abreeza Mall, I bought a panty for the non-food and chocolate bars for the food.

The items I purchased will be reimbursed by Helion, but every department has a limit. For the food, it should not exceed 5 Euros or about 290 Pesos. For the non-food, it is also 5 Euros or 290 Pesos. This is such a winner since I can keep the items and the expenses will be reimbursed. In the case of chocolates, we have already eaten it. And the much winner scenario is, I have a new panty. The payment for each visit is 7 Euros or around 407 Pesos. I am paid, I have the items, I am reimbursed!

When I arrived home, I immediately answered the questionnaires and submitted it to Helion. After an hour or two, I received an email that what I did was good and here is my score:

I am hoping to have more tasks from Helion soon. I also hope to have more assignments located in Davao Region sooner. This is such an exciting and fun adventure for me.
